 Q:    I like to eat after excersing rather than before, how long should I wait to eat?

 A:    Eat right away. Your body, after you workout, is starving to re-supply the necessary nutrients that were used during your training. This will help in recovery and the rebuilding of broken down tissue.  
 
 Q:    For some reason, I cannot bring myself to run on the treadmill. It tires me way to quickly and it hurts the back of my calves. So I get on the elliptical machine instead to burn more calories. But does my body get used to this and not become as effective overtime? When should I change it up and try to maybe do some powerwalking instead?

 A:    It's always good to change exercises frequently. This relieves repetative joint pressure, keeps the muscles guessing and challenged plus staves off boredom. Consider even changing exercises within the same workout.

As far as your body getting used to an exercise, it's important to use your heart as a guide. As you get in better shape it will take more pressure, or a faster pace, to reach the same heart rate. As long as you are aware of this, and continue to challenge yourself during the workout, you will get an effective and high calorie burning workout.
