| Q: |

I have been working out for three months now. About four to five times a week. I have cutt down on my diet and am eating about six times a day. I was wondering how long does it usually take for a person to see results? Where could I go to find some different exercises for different parts of my body? Maybe there is something more I can learn. |

Weight loss, and its progress, is a very simple formula. You will lose one pound of stored energy (body fat) for every 3500 calories you burn more than you eat. So, the rate in which you will see your results is completely contingent upon your daily net burn. In other works, if you burn 500 more calories than you eat, each day of the week, you will lose one pound a week (500 x 7 = 3500). if you burn 750 more calories than you eat, each day of the week, you will lose 1.5 pounds. Understand??
We developed fatburn.com to give you an easy, fast and effective tool to track all of this. The ultimate goal of fatburn.com is to give you the knowledge to make informed decisions (daily) on how to manage your diet and exercise to achieve your goal. When using fatburn you will know, every day, whether you have lost or gain weight.

Doesn't age affect metabolism especially in women? Isn't my metabolism slower now at 35 than it was at 25? If so, I don't remember my age being asked for the calculation. Was it? |

Tracy,
Yes, your metabolism does slow with age. The average is 2% every five years after the age of 35. When we calculate you daily metabolic rate on fatburn.com, we take all this into consideration. So when you put your weight in each day, the number you see is accurate. |

Will I be able to manually enter a food & calorie amount?
I'm don't like the idea that I may be limited to a drop-down list with pre-determined values, if i can get it to be more accruate if I know the exact amount. (For example, a keebler chocolate chip cookie may have a different amount of calories that a Chips Ahoy cookie, etc.)
Thanks for your help,

Deb,
Yes, you can manually enter any food that we don't have in the database. When the food is not found, a window will come up asking you if you want to "user enter". |

I stepped on the scale this week and discovered that I gained three pounds. I weigh 125 and now I weigh 128! I went over my calories by about 500 one day. How is it possible that I could gain three pounds in one week? |

It's not possible. Be sure to weigh yourself once a week, at the exact same time. We suggest that you pick a morning, go to the bathroom, do your thing and then weigh yourself. Also, disgard the week of your cycle. This way you get an as accurate weigh in as possible. Food and water going in and out of your body will cause as much as a five pound swing a day. Don't panic, you're on the right track. |
