I would like to know where I find the over/under goal???
which column do I need to look for so it can tell me I need to burn x amount of calories and consume x amount of calories to create the deficit needed to meet my goal. |

Jean,
The over/under column was an experiment we tried and a few months back decided to eliminate. It was confusing to most users. We liked it, but we had to go with the mojority. |

I am 40 years old and weigh 148lbs. I can't seem to lose no matter what diet or exercise plan I use. I've even been to the doctor. They say everything is fine. Last year at this time I weighed 113. I have even tried eating 1200 cals. and walking 10 miles and did not lose any weight. When I stopped I didn't gain or lose. HElp!!!!!! |

Wow. It sounds like you're doing all the right things. Have you been checked for hypothyroidism? There has to be a reason you gained 27 pounds. Logically, if all you're saying is accurate, you should have lost weight...certainly not gained. The only thing that may be of help is, be consistant. If you're going to lose weight, you have to give your body a consistant message of what you want. Fluctuating on and off diets will cause your body, and its metabolism, to slow down. You have to be burning more calories than you eat consistantly, in order to get your body the message it needs. Plus, one pound a week is good work. Don't get discourage and stop your progress because it's not happening quick enough, |

I have always had a big roll of fat on my stomach. It refuses to go away. Seriously. I lost about 20 pounds on my own in about two months. It's still there. My waste line is smaller, but my stomach still hangs over my pants. I am continually on a diet and I work out every day [run and lift weights]. What can I do to get rid of this ASAP? |

Laura,
There is no such thing as spot training. In other words, you lose weight all over your body at the same time. There is not one exercise we can give you that will change this fact. You sound like you're on the right track. Keep up the exercise routine and make sure that you're eating fewer calories than you burn. This will cause your body to use stored fat as an energy sourse and, in the end, lose weight. If you do this long enough, the fat around your waist will reduce. |

I have had two children, ages 1 and 4. I weigh 108 lbs. However, I still have loose, flabby skin around my stomach. It is no longer flat.I have read that you can't spot weight, but I am only interested in firming up my waist. I don't need to lose any weight anywhere else. My question: How can I firm up my waist without getting a tummy tuck? Thank you. |

Denise,
The simple answer is to tell you to get in the gym and focus on abdominal exercises. The problem with that answer is, all the ab work in the world won't tighten your skin back up. You'll develope great muscle but the skin won't be affected. You may want to consult your doctor on the best course of action. |

If you are eating 1400 calories a day and working out to burn 400-500 calories a day do you need to eat back those calories? |

We need to know your total caloric burn for the day to answer your question. This includes your BMR, stress levels, workday activities and exercise. |
