| Q: |

Hi,
I weigh 210 lbs and I'm 5'6". I want to loose 70 lbs. Which exercises burn the most calories? I do 20 minutes of cardio plus 20 minutes of swimming a day. I also do a weight work out every other day. I'm eating approx 1200 calories a day and drinking 96oz of water day. I've been doing this routine for 6 weeks now and I've actually gained 5 lbs instead of losing. Is this normal and I'm doing enough to loose weight? Thank you! |

Are you sure you are eating 1200 calories a day? It sounds like you are exercising enough and eating the minimum amount of calories your body can survive on. That should lead to weight loss. However, sometimes the body thinks it's starving and will slow down to get a consistant message. Hold true to your program. If you are consistant (no cheating) your body will get the message and use stored energy (body fat) to survive. The key is consistancy. |

How does this work when I consume approx. 1000 calories and burn around 800 from exercising? Is it like I have only taken in 300 calories for the day? |

No. Your basal metabolic rate will also factor into the amount of calories you burn. Your BMR is the amount of calories your body burns just because you are alive. Then you add the 800 for exercise and that will give you a total caloric burn for the day. You will still have consumed 1000 calories, but you will burn quite a few more. This will lead to your body using stored energy (body fat) to get through the day. That's how you lose weight. Use fatburn.com to make all these calculations seem easy. |

If i have only ate 1300 calories during the day. Is it good for health or weight loss purposes, to eat late at night or 1 hour before going to sleep? |

Noel,
The theory of not eating late comes from the fact that the average American eats dinner between 5-7 pm. Anything after that is just extra calories you porbably don't need. Pay attention to your total calories consumed verses how many you burn. No matter what the time, if you burn more than you eat you will lose weight. |

The only way you can know how long to walk is to know how many calories you are eating. In order to lose weight, you need to be burning more calories than you are eating on a daily basis. Join fatburn.com and we make it easy to calculate the calories going in so you can figure out how long to walk each day to reach your goal. |
