Q:
How can my child witch is twelve years old loose weight by eating less when there is an environment around her that eats whenever they want. She is not starving herself, she is just eating healthier and finding out that she's loosing weight from it. Do you have a eating plan that she could try to follow to encourage her to stay on her routine. We would be thankful for suggestions.

The problem with most people is that they have no idea how their body works. Teach you daughter the simple facts and she will be way ahead of the game. In order to lose weight she needs to eat fewer calories than she burns every day. Sign her up for fatburn.com and show her how many calories she eats verses how many she burns and what the net burn is daily. This will be a lesson she will keep for the rest of her life.
Q:
When you are running to burn calories...do you burn more calories trying to maintain a consistant heart rate? Or do you burn more calories reaching your consistant aerobic heart rate?

A:
You burn more calories by either exercising longer or harder. Being aerobic (60-85% of you max heart rate)is usually the easiest way to accomplish this goal because you can keep that rate, wihtout exhaustion, longer.
Q:
I've been working hard for months to lose weight and have lost 40 pounds so far. Many people have given much appreciated support and congratulations along the way but several people have said something that upsets me - "Well, I just hope you can keep it off!" Argh! Is it just me, or is that rude? It seems so negative and my question to you is - how do I respond?
Thank you,
Frustrated

Jealousy can be very frustrating. Make them all eat their words by smiling and staying the course. Remember the lessons you learned along the way and stay with them. Weight loss is a very simple formula - burn more calories than you eat and you will lose weight.
Q:
I'm 43 years old, Last year I lost 20 pounds and I have kept it off. Now that I'm at my goal weight I am trying to firm and tone. Is 20 minutes of aerobics 5 days a week enough? I also do ab excersises 2 days a week after my aerobics. I just can't seem to get my abs back as flat as they were. I've done ab excersises for about 4 months and just started my aerobics about 2 weeks ago am I expecting to much too fast? Thanks Teresa

Fitness is not something that comes easy or fast. Stay the course, make it part of your life and you will see results in the long run.
