Q & A with fatburn.com's Experts

Q:    is it true that i need to eat something before i excersize first thing in the morning?
Asked By Caroline
A:    Your blood sugar is typically lowest when you awake. This can be good for some forms of exercise and dangerous for others.

There have been studies that show on an empty stomach, in the morning, your aerobic training (medium intensity training - walking, biking...) becomes more efficient because you have less blood sugar in reserve to burn through before you get to the body using stored fat as it's energy source.

However, if you are exercising anaerobically (high intensity training - lifting heavy weights, fast running) your body uses only blood sugar and you risk becoming hypoglycemic. This happens when your blood sugar becomes dangerously low. When you become hypoglycemic it's similar to your car running out of gas. In extreme cases you could lose conciousness and need medical attention.

Our best advise to you is to eat something light so your body gets through your workout without pause.

Q:    If I changed my daily calorie intake from 4000 to 3000, would I still have to burn 500 calories a day?
Asked By Anonymous
A:    You have to have a 500 calorie deficit to lose one pound a week. That means that if your eating 3000 calories a day you will have to burn a total of 3500 calories to reach the goal. It is very unlikely that you would be able to do this without exercise.

A 200 pound man will burn about 2000 calories a day without exercise. If he eats 3000 calories he will have to exercise for two and a half hours to reach 3500 total calories burned for the day.

Those are the facts. There is no way easier way and don't be fooled by those who say there is.

Q:    i am currently attending curves if i do that 3 times a week and do this will i loose all the weight i need to wich is about 80 pounds? please help me know if this is the right diet for me. thank you
Asked By kimberly
 A:    Kimberly,

Fatburn.com is not a diet. What we do is give you all the information you need to make the correct food and exercise choices for your individual weight loss goals. We believe in a few very simple weight loss facts.

1. You are physically, emotionally, chemically and socially addicted to the foods you like. To try and take them away from you would be a formula for you just gaining the weight back. We at fatburn teach you how to eat the food you like inside the formula that allows you to lose weight.

2. If you eat fewer calories than you burn you will lose weight. This is a basic law of physics and can not be refuted.

3. When you make your own choices derived from accurate calorie consumption and calorie burn information you are in control.

Best of all, when you use fatburn, at the end of each day you know if you lost weight or not. This gives you complete control and a great feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction.

Q:    I just bought an eliptical machine, and am surprised at how many calories it says I burn in thirty minutes. Is there a more accurate way to calculate this?
Asked By Anonymous
A:    You have good instincts. We're not sure why but the eliptical trainer does way overestimate your calories burned during exercise. In all the independent test done on the machine it show no more calories burned per hour than the stationary bike or stair master.

There is no easy way to calculate the correct caloric burn because it includes a burn factor combined with your weight and time of exercise.

Fatburn.com has an accurate calorie burn calculator but if you use Google you can find some out there for free.

Q:    is it true that for some people a good percentage of their weight gain is in the stomach area while for other people the excess weight is distributed more evenly throughout the body and therefore the weigth gain is not so obvious?
Asked By jeffrey
A:    Where you gain weight is genetically predetermined. Most women gain weight in the hips and thighs. The most common reason this happens is one of the functions of body fat is to protect your most vital organs. In women of child bearing years this is the reproductive system. Men tend to gain weight through the upper body to protect the internal organs. But in the end, just like the differences between people noses, weight gain comes in all shapes and sizes.
