 A:    It will take you aproximately 10-20 weeks to safely lose 20 pounds. In order to lose one pound of fat per week, you need to burn 3500 calories MORE than you consume. This averages out to 500 calories per day. If you wish to lose 2 pounds a week, the you need to burn 1000 calories a day more than you consume. It is important that you eat a minimum of 1000-1200 calories per day to ensure you maintain a healthy metabolism. Otherwise you will make it more difficult to lose and maintain weight loss. We realize this may sound like a long time but it probably took you months or even years to but the weight on so it is unrealistic to expect to shed it in only a week.
