 Q:    Hi there, I was thinking of purchasing your services, but I only have a debit card. Will I be notified of when my member fees will be deducted from my credit card ? Thank you.

 A:    If your debit card contains the MasterCard or Visa symbol, you will be able to use it to purchase a membership to fatburn.com. You will NOT be notified of a debit but once you sign up, your card will immediately be charged the fee of $7.99. If you DO NOT cancel, your card will automatically be charged again the following month. If you wish to cancel at the end of the one or three month cycle, simply send a "Contact Us" message stating your desire to cancel.  Q:    I am burning aprox. 2000 more cal. a day than I am eating and I am not dropping any weight Why?

 A:    Barring some type of medical problem (check with your doctor), it's impossible to burn 2000 calories a day more than you consume and NOT lose weight; unless you are starving yourself, in which case your body will actually hold on to the weight in order to survive. Read the Health & Nutrition article, "Why fasting is not..." for more on the subject. In order to lose one pound of fat, you need to burn 3500 calories MORE than you consume. If you weigh 160 pounds, you burn around 1500 calories a day simply by being alive. Add exercise, stress and workday activity level and you would burn an additional 500-700 calories (depending on the type & duration). This adds up to a daily caloric burn of 2200 calories so if you are burning 2000 calories then that means you are consuming 200 or fewer calories a day which is highly improbable. We suggest you aim for a caloric deficit of 500 calories per day to lose one pound per week. A woman should consume no less than 1200 calories per day to remain healthy.  Q:    I am 5'3" tall & weigh 138. I have lost 87 pounds but I am at a plateau right now and have been since July 2003. I want to get to 125 pounds but just cannot seem to do it. I am on a somewhat higher protein diet, drinks 8 glasses of water each day and exercise a moderate amount everyday. What could be the problem?

 A:    First and foremost, congratulations on your success! Losing 83 pounds is a difficult task and you should be very proud of yourself. The problem could simply be that you are consuming the same number of calories you are burning each day and you just don't realize it. In order to lose one pound a week, you need to burn 3500 calories (or an average of 500 per day). To safely & effectively achieve you goal of losing 13 pounds, give yourself 13 weeks to do it.
