I was wondering what the maximum calorie absorption of the human body is, in a one day period. I.E. If someone were to eat 10,000 calories in one day.. would all of those excess calories be converted into fat or would most of them be passed through the body unused? |

Most of them would be absorbed as fat. The waist product that passes is essentially calorie free. In your bodies need to reach a state of homeostasis (a balance) for the day, when you have 8000 calories left over, your body will store them. The evolution of the body has developed this process as a way to survive during a famine. |

Spot weight reduction is a myth! You lose weight all over your body at the same time. In other words, it matters not one bit how many sit-ups or crunches you do. The only way to lose weight in any area is to burn more calories than you eat. You must burn 3,500 calories to lose one pound of body fat. If you burn 500 more calories than you eat for seven days you will lose one pound of body fat. If you burn 1000 calories more than you eat for seven days, you will lose two pounds of body fat. The key is to know how many calories are going in and out each day so you can accurately track your progress. fatburn.com can help. Try it for a month and see how many calories you can eat every day and meet your weight loss goals! |

I am exercising by walking 3 miles in 50 minutes for 5 days a week and eating about 1200 calories a day. I have only lost 3 pounds in 5 weeks of this regimine. Why am I not losing more weight? |

Patricia,
First off, three pounds in five weeks is not bad at all. At that rate you'd lose around 30 pounds in a year and anyone would be happy with that. Second, it's a numbers game and what you've given us, in your question, is just part of the equation. Your exercise is good and but how many calories does that walk add up to in fifty minutes? Most importantly, is the difference between the calories you take in (1200? Is that exact?) and the calories you burn large enough for you to lose more than three pounds in five weeks?
That's why we created fatburn.com. Use the site everyday and you won't have to ask that question again. You will know because we will give you the hard numbers.
Remember that for every 3500 calories you burn, more than you eat, you will lose one pound. Try to eat 500 fewer calories than you burn each day and that will equal one pound of weigh loss a week.

It's a good question to ask and one we hope you take our advice to heart. Supplements are a multi-billion dollar a year business. They are not regulated by the FDA and are often false in their advertising or flat out dangerous to your health. You should be especially careful with anything you choose to put in your body. Because weight loss supplements are not regulated by the FDA and often don't warn you of adverse side effects, you should take their warnings about using them seriously. Most of the weight loss supplements on the market are filled with stimulants like Ma Huang, Ephedra and Caffeine (often all three). The purpose of the stimulants is simply to make your body run faster and burn more calories. We at fatburn.com are NOT medical doctors so we cannot tell you if there are special problems associated with combining thyroid medication and weight loss supplements. We urge you to check with your physician.
fatburn.com can help you reach your weight loss goals. When you log on you will learn how many calories you burn everyday and how many calories you can eat and reach your goals. For more information on supplements, Click the Health & Nutrition tab and read the article, "Using Supplements for Weight Loss" for more information and PLEASE talk to your doctor before beginning any weight loss program. |
