You don't say how old you are but if you are under 18, we urge you to check with your doctor AND your parents before embarking on any type of weight loss plan. The Body Mass Index calculation isn't a perfect calculation for everyone. The normal range for women is 18.5 – 24.9 but other research indicates that most women prefer to be in the 20-22 range. Society places a great deal of pressure on women of all ages to look a certain way. We recommend you do a reality check with a health professional to make sure you have a realistic body image. |

Your BMI says I am at a normal weight but I feel and look like I am overweight in a mirror, why is this? |

The Body Mass Index calculation isn't a perfect calculation for everyone. It may overestimate body fat in athletes and people who have a muscular build. Also, it may underestimate body fat in older people and people who have lost muscle mass. In addition, the normal range for women is 18.5 – 24.9 but other research indicates that most women prefer to be in the 20-22 range. |

I've been told that my metabolism is slow. How do I speed it up?
Thanks |

Has a doctor told you that your metabolism is slow? Have you been diagnosed with hypothyroidism (a condition in which the amount of thyroid hormones in the body is below normal causing a slow down in your metabolism)? We do not recommend artificially speeding up your metabolism using supplements or diet pills because eventually you will have to stop using them and the weight you lost will come right back. For more information, click the "Health & Nutrition" tab and read the articles. |

We at fatburn.com do not endorse using supplements diet pills or shakes to lose weight. At best, it's counter productive and at worst, dangerous. Please see the article, Using Supplements" for more information. While you're there check out the article, "Why diets don't work." |

Your height and weight indicate that your weight and BMI is normal. If you are trying to maintain your weight, just make sure that calories in vs. calories out remain roughly the same. |
