I was trying to figure out how many calories are burned by lifting weights. Could you please tell me if there are any flaws with my following argument?
Two 25lbs weigths will have a total mass of 22.7kg, and will require a force of (22.7kg)x(9.8N/kg)=222.7 N to lift them. Therefore, lifting the weights 0.65m (the distance I lift when curling) will require (0.65m)x(222.7N)=144.8J of energy. Converted to calories, this gives (144.8J)/(4.1868J/cal)=34.6cal. Is my reasoning correct? It just seems too easy that by lifting 50lbs once will burn 35 calories.
