 Q:    I recently took an intense Tae Bo class. I have been exercising for a few months now but found that I couldn't keep up without feeling dizzy. Dizziness is something that happens to me often with exercise. I've tested myself for anemia and it came out negative so it's got to be my diet. What foods should I be eating?

 Q:    Is there any way to find out my excat amount of body fat?!?

 A:    Yes, the most accurate way to measure body fat is underwater weighing but that can be quite expensive. One of the most tried and true methods is Body Fat Calipers. You can purchase them yourself (easy to find online) or you can go to your gym and meet with a certified trainer who can take the measurements for you.  
 
 Q:    This may sound stupid but here goes. I was wondering if there is a time of day that exercise should be done. I walk every day 6 to 10 miles. I do this FIRST thing in the morning because I like how I feel the whole day. I work 3-11 so it's perfect for me. I'm at the lake by 8 am and depending how far I walked, I'm usually done by 10 or 10:30am. I don't eat before I do this. I come home from the walk and have a slim fast and then don't usually eat until I get to work. Do I still create a net burn of calories if the exercising is being done before any eating occurs?  A:    Just like your third grade teacher, we at fatburn.com believe there are no stupid questions! You'll be happy to learn that it does not matter what time of the day you exercise; the result is the same. Your instinct to work out in the morning because it makes you feel good all day is right on target. Keep up the good work!  
 
 Q:    is there a formula for vo2 max or is it highly complicated?

 A:    The short answer is yes; it is complicated. Here's some information on VO2 Max:

The most common measurement of one's overall athletic fitness is VO2 Max. VO2 Max is the maximum ability of the body to transport oxygen from the air to the muscles for energy generation. It involves the heart's capacity to pump oxygen rich blood to the muscles, as well as, the muscles' efficiency in extracting and utilizing the oxygen. VO2 Max is measured in milliliters of oxygen per kilogram of body weight per minute of exercise (ml/kg/min). In general, the higher your VO2 Max, the better your performance.

For example:
VO2 Max of an average male 20-29 years of age is: 45 - 50.
VO2 Max of an average male on college track team is: 55-57.
A VO2 max test involves an exhaustive run on a treadmill while connected to a respiration unit and heart rate monitor and incurs significant expense. There are some calculators out there but you need to know things like the distance you ran in a race and the time.
 
 
 Q:    I go to the Gymn first thing in the morning. For the best "fat burn" results, hould I eat before I work out, or after I return home? I am there approximately 45 mintutes [30-40 aerobic, and 10-15 weights]

 A:    From a weight loss stand point, it doesn't matter WHEN you eat, what 's important is how much you eat and how many calories you burn. If you work out first thing in the morning, eating breakfast after exercise is fine (just don't skip it!). Some people feel better if they eat something small upon waking (and before exercise) like a piece of fruit or slice of toast. It’s really up to you.
