A:    It sounds like you need a little help learning about your body & how it works. Read the Health & Nutrition articles for great information on weight loss and join fatburn.com to learn how many calories YOU need to burn everyday to reach your weight loss goal.
Good for you for taking the first step toward a healthy lifestyle!

We at fatburn.com do not endorse using supplements or diet pills to lose weight. At best, it's counter productive and at worst, dangerous. Please see the article, Using Supplements" for more information. http://www.fatburn.com/article_show.asp?article_id=12

Q:    Why after working out for 2 months have I lost inches everywhere but gained 2 inches in my thighs? I also lost 2.5 pounds and I am 5'5 and weigh 110 which I am happy about. I eat mostly fruits and veggies rarely do I eat red meat. Is there anything I can do to lose in my thighs too?

A:    Spot weight reduction is a myth! You lose weight all over your body at the same time. The only way to lose weight in ANY area is to burn more calories than you eat. You need to burn 500 calories per day MORE than you consume to lose one pound of fat per week. Perhaps you have gained muscle in your thighs, (which is a GOOD thing!). You may have an unrealistic view of your body because it sounds like you are thin and don't need to lose any weight

Q:    Hi i'm 19, 5'3 and 125 pounds. I would like to loose 10 pounds and i've been trying all summer, but the scale won't budge. I do 30-45 min of cardio 5-6 days a week, and lift weights twice a week. I keep a food journal and usually eat around 1500 calories a day. What gives?

A:    In order to lose one pound you need to burn 3500 calories; to lose one pound a week, you need to burn 500 calories more than you consume EVERY DAY. Someone of your height, weight, etc. probably burns around 1200 calories a day just by living so if you are eating 1500 calories, you actually gain weight on non-exercise days and if you exercise, you are either breaking even or burning only a few more calories than you consume. We suggest you sign up for a month (it's only $7.99!) and learn how you can reach your goal. You will see how many calories you are really burning and how many you are really consuming everyday. If you follow the plan, you will lose 10 pounds in 10 weeks!

Q:    How much weight should I lose in 1 year? A week? Is it the same for men and women? Thanks!!!
Asked By Anonymous
A:    Losing weight at the rate of 1-2 pounds a week is considered safe and healthy for either gender. When you lose more than that you are usually depriving yourself rather than changing your eating/exercise habits and are more likely to gain the weight (and then some!) back.
