| Q: |

The caloric readings on the machines at the gym are usually different than the calorie output that I get when I enter an activity into the activity section. Which is the better measure?
Thanks! |

fatburn.com is more accurate because it takes into account your age, weight, height and gender while the machines at the gym only factor in weight and age. |

I just came from my first workout with a personal trainer. I weigh 185 lbs, and I'm 5'7". Part of my workout included 20 squats with a swiss ball between my back and the wall, followed immediately by 5 minutes on the bicycle, and then 15 squats followed by 4 minutes on the bicycle, then 10 squats, followed by 3 minutes on the bicycle, then 5 squats and 2 minutes on the bicycle. I know my distance on the bicycle, but I have no idea how many calories I burned doing the squats. Can you tell me? |

Assuming you did not rest long in between sets and kept your heart rate up, classify the entire workout (including the bicycle portions) as "circuit training." So if you did the work out for 30 minutes, enter circuit training - 30 minutes. |

Hi, I am a subscriber to fatburn.com, and I am happy to have found your program. I have been keeping track of my meals and activities for a whole week now. It seems that I tend to vary in the amount of calories I burn daily. Some days I burn 250, ranging to 1060 net calories burned. Is it important that I stay consistent with how many calories I burn each day in order to start seeing results? I know that you have to burn at least 500 calories daily to lose weight, but say one day I burn 1,060, and another I only burn 236. Can those extra calories burned carry over? |

It is important to send your body a consistent message so try to stay as close to a daily 500 calorie deficit as possible. Much like a small child, your body responds to consistency so it's important to try to stay in the 500 calorie range. 600 one day and 400 the next is fine but 250 to 1060 will make your road a little tougher. That being said, some variety is okay. |

One serving of steak is 3 oz. If you consume 1/2 a pound (or 8 oz.), enter 2.66 as the number of servings. |

You can ignore my question on where to record the amount of water I consume each day... I found it along with my meals that I'm recording. I was looking for a separate area that did a countdown or something. Drinking water is very important, but challenging for some people. I would suggest making it a daily challenge with an actual place to check off how much water (in 8 oz incriments) you drink each day! I'm a visual person and it really helps to have it 'in my face' so I know where I'm lacking. Eating well and exercising is great, but if you're drinking 8 cans of soda or 8 cups of coffee throughout the day, it kind of defeats the purpose. Just a suggestion. Thanks - MarieB |
