Q & A with fatburn.com's Experts

Q:    I am 5'5" and my weight is 168 pounds and I was wondering how much I would need to lose to be at a healthy weight. thanks

A:    Go to the home page and get a free weight loss profile. Join fatburn.com for only $7.99 a month to learn how to lose the weight you want while eating foods YOU choose. Remember, it takes 3500 calories to make one pound and 1-2 pounds of weight loss per week is considered healthy (and realistic) for permanent weight loss.

Q:    I run on the treadmill for an hour a day. I burn 500 calories on it. to loose 1 pound of fat a week you say to burn 500 more calories than you eat a day. At my rate should I increase to 2 hours so I can eat 500 calories a day? because it seems to me that at my rate I would have to be starving myself to loose weight.

A:    It's true that to lose one pound a week, you need to burn 500 calories per day MORE than you consume. You are forgetting that you burn calories just by living (anywhere from 1200-2000) so you certainly don't need to starve yourself to lose weight. In fact, that's the WORST thing you can do! Join fatburn.com to find out how many calories you burn (according to your age, height, weight, gender, etc.) without exercise, how many calories you burn when you work out and how many calories are in your favorite foods. fatburn.com will help you learn how to eat what you love and still lose weight.

Q:    How do I determine what my heartrate needs to be to be at my optimal fatburning state. A person at my gym told me to minus my age from 220, then minus my normal heartrate, then times it by .65 .75 & .80. Is this correct? He said that if I stay in my fatburning range I will not be over or under working out. Please tell me if this formula is correct.

A:    The answer to your question can be found by clicking the "Health & Nutrition" Tab and reading the article entitled, "The fastest way to burn calories while exercising."

Q:    What kind of exercises can i do to lose weight ccan you name a few?
Asked By alexandria
A:    fatburn.com doesn't recommend specific exercises since weight loss is a two part equation. The simple truth is, you must burn 3,500 calories to lose one pound of body fat. If you burn 500 more calories than you eat for seven days you will lose one pound of body fat. If you burn 1000 calories more than you eat for seven days, you will lose two pounds of body fat. The key is to know how many calories are going in and out each day so you can accurately track your progress.
