In a question posed by "Running Technonurd" about a formula
for calculating calories burned by walking/running on
flat-ground/incline, your response was that you were
developing such a table and will be ready soon.
Is this table ready and, if so, how can I access it ?
Thanks

I am 42 years old 5'6 and currently weigh 150 lbs. Several years ago I went through an illness where I had to take steroids. At that time I was around 137. I ballooned to 163 and have lost 13lbs. However my body absolutely refuses to lose the remaining 13 lbs. My body chemistry seems to have changed somewhat I'm sure due to the steroids and my age. I try to eat healthy, I currently exercise approximately 20-30 minutes every other day and am considering purchasing an elyptical trainer. Do think the elyptical trainer will help (I have to keep a low impact workout due to knee injuries)? |

Yes, the elliptical trainer is a great machine for low/non impact, aerobic exercise. If you have the money and the room, we recommend it highly. About your last 13 pounds - weight loss, gain or maintenance comes down to a very simple formula. When you eat fewer calories than you burn during the day, you lose weight. When you eat more calories than you burn during the day, you gain weight. When you eat the same amount of calories that you burn, you stay the same. The key to your weight loss is that you consistently burn at least 500 calories, more than you eat, every day until you lose the weight you want. Good luck and if you need help, join fatburn.com and let us help you track your calories in, calories out and give you a summary each day so you know if you're meeting your goals. |

Try some of the protein/energy bars you can find at any health food store. They're usually low in calories and serve you well as a snack. Fruit is always a good option as well as vegetables. Both can be carried easily and give you good energy when you need it. Just a little advice, don't go through you day without eating. In weight loss or sports performance, this will catch up with you and backfire. Learn how to eat the foods you like in the right amounts to keep you satisfied and energized throughout your day. You're probably eat too little and then eat too much in reaction. To lose one pound a week you just have to eat 500 fewer calories than you burn each day. So if you burn 2000 calories during your day, you can eat 1500 calories and still meet you goal. When you make good food choices, 1500 calories can be a lot of food. Alexis, Regardless of your weight, you are not fat and ugly! Fat and ugly is a state of mind, not a state of being. At your age it's important to learn how your body works so you don't suffer through this yo-yo weight loss and gain your whole life. Weight loss, gain or maintenance comes down to a very simple formula. That means that you cannot go for days without eating!!! When you do this, it's just as bad for your body as eating too much. Your body is starving and slows itself down as a survival tactic. When you eat again, it stores all your food while waiting for the next time you starve. Join fatburn.com and find out how simple we make it to know if you’re meeting your weigh loss goal each day. Good luck and remember, being thin doesn't make you beautiful. Beauty comes from the inside out. |
